INTRODUCTION

Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering that applies the principle of mechanics and material and material science for analysis, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical system. It involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for design, production and operation of machine and tools.

Mechanical is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering discipline. It is the discipline that applies engineering physics and material science to analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems.

In addition to core principle of mechanical engineers use tools such as Computer aided Design (CAD) to design and product life management to analyze manufacturing , industrial equipments and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport system, aircraft , robotics, medical devices , weapons etc.

Mechanical engineers research, design, develops, build, and test mechanical and thermal devices, including tools, engines and machines. Mechanical engineers typically do the following;

  • Analyze problem to see how mechanical and thermal devices might help to solve the problem.
  • Design and redesign mechanical and thermal devices using analysis and CAD.
  • Develop and test prototype of devices they design.
  • Finding solutions to engineering problems
  • Analyze test results and change the design if needed.
  • Oversee the manufacturing process and device.

Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in year 2012 at KNIT and is offering a three year course in Mechanical Engineering. Our dedicated faculty graduated from world renowned universities grows our leading-edge in building the career of the students.

The curriculum is best designed for the students in context to Nepal. The primary focus of our curriculum is to impart technical know-how to students, promote their problem solving skills and innovation of new technologies.
